Sterile Area Access: For personnel working beyond the TSA security checkpoint.
Airfield and Ramp Access: For ground operations staff such as maintenance, fueling, and baggage handling.
SIDA Badges (Security Identification Display Area):For employees working near aircraft, ramps, taxiways, and other restricted operational areas.
All applicants must successfully complete TSA-mandated background checks and required security training before a badge is issued.
2. Temporary Access Credentials
Temporary access passes may be issued to individuals who require short-term entry into secured airport areas.
Contractors performing time-limited construction or maintenance work.
Authorized vendors making deliveries or service calls.
Visitors attending scheduled meetings on airport property.
Single-Day Access Passes: Valid for limited-duration access.
Escort-Required Passes: Individuals must remain under continuous supervision by an authorized badgeholder.
3. Vehicle Access Permits
Vehicles operating within restricted airside or perimeter areas must display a valid LIH-issued vehicle permit at all times.
Ground service equipment.
Fueling and maintenance vehicles.
Catering and airport operations vehicles.
Vehicle permits must be properly displayed and remain current.
4. Tenant and Vendor Badges
All businesses operating at Lihue Airport—including airlines, concessions, custodial services, and service vendors—are responsible for ensuring their employees hold valid airport-issued identification.
Badges are issued only after employer sponsorship, background clearance, and completion of required training.
5. Visitor and Special Access Passes
Visitor credentials may be issued for approved purposes such as:
Media access with prior authorization.
Government or VIP visits.
Educational or official site visits.
These passes are typically limited in duration and require escort by an authorized badgeholder.
Sponsorship by an authorized LIH employer or tenant.
Submission of application with valid government-issued ID.
